HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

       for Wednesday, May 8th                   

Volleyball will have OPEN GYM TONIGHT from 4:15-5:30 pm.

Attention Junior class officers --- your meeting at 12:00 is cancelled today and rescheduled for Thursday so please meet with Jostens at 12:00 in the office then.

 

Student Council will have a meeting Thursday during lunch in the Art room.  We will be voting for officers for next year.  Please see Mrs. Wieber by Wednesday if you would like to be an officer.  We are also having an end of the year celebration meeting, so all members should attend. 

Book Club will meet on Thursday, May 9th in the HS library during lunch.

There will be a soccer meeting for all interested on Friday, May 10th at 12:16 in the new gym.

 

For those interested in joining the NEW Shooting Club at school, there will be a meeting Friday, May 10th with Mrs. Danner-Duncan and Coach Miles in the library at 12:30 pm during lunch.

Summer Volleyball camp forms are available from Coach Miles.  Please return by this FRIDAY!

Summer fieldwork applications are with Mrs. Whitehouse and the main office.  Students who are 14 years old and older by July 1st can apply.  This is an opportunity through Advance Services Inc. and Syngenta in Clinton.  Student workers will be pollinating fields just east of Wapella.  The season starts around July 1st and lasts for about 4-6 weeks.  Wages start at $11 per hour.  There is an open house for more information on May 15th from 9 am - 6pm.  See Mrs. Whitehouse if you have questions.

All students interested in playing football, there is a meeting this Saturday, May 11th at 5pm in the HS weight room.  We will discuss summer practice dates and expectations for the upcoming season.  Parents are welcome to attend.

Cheer tryout open gym and instruction will be held May 20th thru 22nd from 3:30-5 in the New Gym.  Cheer tryouts will be on May 23rd, starting at 3:30 and will be held in the new gym.  Sign up in the Unit Office!!

The last day to order this year’s yearbook is May 31st!  See Ms. Thacker to order!

 

Seniors-

These are some reminders for next week . . .

·         Check the Commons bulletin board for your owed fees and fines.  Please pay by CASH in the office before 5/17, graduation practice day!

·         Senior Chrome Book check in will be on 5/14, 5/15 and 5/15 from 7:45 to 8:30 in the office.

·         Your chrome book must be charged and returned with the case in person by you.

·         Friday morning before graduation practice is the last day for any saved work to not be deleted from your chrome book!  If you wish to save it, back it up to your thumb drive otherwise it’ll be gone, forever!

·         Senior student emails will be active until 6/1… then your school email accounts will be deactivated!

·         For any additional questions, please see the office!

 It was a home run derby last night at Weedman Park for the Blue Ridge Lady Knights Softball team.  There were 6 home runs combined for both teams. Ashlyn Voyles hit 2 home runs, added a double, and drove in 5 runs with Lexi Young crushing 2 home runs and driving in 3 runs. Georgia Manuel also added 3 hits including 2 doubles but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Knights are defeated by GCMS 21 to 13. Way to go Lady Knights! 

The boys track team competed at the Ridgeview Boys Invitational last night and placed 2nd out of 13 teams!  Highlights from the meet include:  Kolby Kramer placed 3rd in the discus. Mitchell Houser won the 400m dash. Gavin Raines placed 2nd in the High Jump clearing 6 feet 2 inches.  The 4x800 meter relay consisting of Mitchell Houser, Gavin Raines, Joey Liedner, and Tyler Maxwell won this event with a time of 8:54.44.  The 4x400 meter relay team also won the event consisting of Mitchell Houser, Gavin Raines, Joey Liedner, and Hank Mitchell.  There were also several PRs from other members of the team.  It was an overall outstanding effort by the Knights!  Way to go!

Today the Varsity Baseball team plays at Okaw Valley and the Varsity Softball team plays at

Fisher. Both Games begin at 4:30. Go Knights!

After school detentions this week are with Mrs. Whitehouse.  Lunch detentions are in the office on Thursday.
