The Café in the commons will NOT be open today.

The varsity scholastic bowl tourney at Winnebago tomorrow has been post-poned to the tentative date of Feb. 9th.

Due to impending bad weather tomorrow the GBB game tomorrow at ALAH has been cancelled.  The game might NOT be made up.  Details to come later.

This is the last day for the Blue Ribbon Book Fair.  It will be over at 2pm today so come in early to purchase books.  We are also asking a trivia question every day.  Answer correctly, and be entered into a drawing to win a book.

Wednesday night the Novice and Varsity Parliamentary Procedure teams and the Food Science team competed in the Section 16 Contests. 

 

The Novice Parliamentary Procedure Team placed 1st in the contest with team members including Sami Boogren 1st overall chair, Morgan Drozs 1st overall secretary and 1st overall Floor member, Hank Mitchell 3rd overall Floor member, Tray Hardesty, Anthony Thompson 2nd overall Floor member, and statement Madden. They will advance to districts later this spring.

 

The Varsity Parliamentary Procedure Team places 1st overall in the contest with team members including Gracie Myers-Nichols 2nd overall chair, Katie Cole 2nd overall Secretary, Megan Schumacher 2nd overall Floor member, Corissa Godbee, Audrie McClain 5th overall Floor member, and Ellie Paulsrud. They will advance to Districts later this spring.

 

The Food Science Team competed for the first time in several years and placed 5th overall in the contest. Team members include Katie Cole, Gracie Myers-Nichols, Haley Arndt, Hank Mitchell, and Anthony Thompson. 

 

Auditions for Spring Play, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, will be held Thursday and next Friday after school from 3:30-5:30 in the Library. If you have questions or can’t make it to auditions but want to be involved, please talk to Miss Yeagle or any thespian troupe member. 

 

Girls Basketball will be celebrating Senior night/Grandparent night and Pack the Place on Thursday, January 24th at the HOME game vs. Argenta-Oreana.  

 

The Blue Ridge Spanish Club is offering a Valentine’s dance on Saturday, February 16th, from 7:30-10:00 in the old gym.  Tickets will go on sale starting Monday, February 4th thru February 15th. Tickets are $5 per person in advance, or $7 at the door.  We need at least 40 people to register in advance to have the dance.  Out-of-School date forms are available in the office.

 

In addition to the dance, the Spanish Club is sponsoring a Valentine’s Day King and Queen.  Voting for candidates will take place February 4th thru February 14th and are 25 cents per vote.  The king and queen will be crowned either at the dance on the 16th, or at lunch, on Friday, February 15th.  Any couple attending Blue Ridge High, Freshmen through Senior, is eligible to participate in the contest.  If you and your sweetheart are interested, please see Ms. Loop.

 

After school detentions this week are with Mr. Duke.
