Winter Formal Guest forms are in the office.  They are due back TODAY by the end of the day!


The Freshman Class is selling Applebee's pancake breakfast tickets for $5 to be held on Saturday, Feb 7th from 8-10 am at the Champaign location. Please help support the Class of 2018.


Attention all girls planning on playing softball this spring:  There will be a softball meeting TODAY during lunch beginning at 12:30.  Several important things will be discussed including the ordering of softball t-shirts.


Good luck to Gabby LeBaube, Katrina Medernach, Vanessa Mattingly, Victoria Medernach, and Parker Otto. These FFA members will represent Blue Ridge at the Section 16 Public Speaking Contest tonight. 


Student Council members, if you are ordering a shirt the money is due this Friday to Mrs. Wieber.

Don’t forget -- there is NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 2nd due to a School Improvement day!


Freshman Orientation for the Class of 2019 will be next Wednesday, February 4th in the HS Commons.


Knights Basketball Fans, your shirts are in the office!  Please pick them up today!


The Class of 2016 will host a BBQ dinner at the Boys Basketball game this Friday (January 30th).  Come enjoy a BBQ sandwich and cheer on the team as they take on Tri-City!


After school detentions this week are with Mr. Duke.  Lunch hour detentions are with Mr. Watson.


Hot lunch menu for today is:  Totally Tacos or Buffalo Tenders, Salsa, Refried Beans, Baby Carrots, Fries, Pineapple Tidbits, Juice, Side Salad and Salad Bar

Please remember to check on your family lunch account balances often. When the lunch account balance is under $10, you'll start receiving emails or letters from the office with a reminder.   If your family lunch account is negative your student will be receiving a cheese sandwich, fruit and milk in the lunch line.  Please call Mrs. Hardesty at the HS for any questions...  928-2622

Attention 8th grade Parents:

ATTENTION Parents of College-Bound Seniors: Have you filled out your FAFSA yet? If you're stuck or need more help, please come to our FAFSA night here at the High School on Feb 12th at 6:30 pm in the computer lab. You can use last year's taxes - when you finish this year's taxes, you just have to go back in and update. 
 The Spring Sports Parent meeting will be on Wednesday, February 18th beginning at 7:00 in the New Gym.  This is for all parents and participants in Baseball, Softball, or Track.
A Note from Superintendent Wilson for all Parents: 

Beginning January 12th through March 13th, parents will have the opportunity to participate in the Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey. This allows you to share your views on important elements of school effectiveness. 

On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, UChicago Impact will administer the Illinois 5Essentials Survey online. This survey is based on the Five Essentials for School Success, an evidence-based framework developed by the University of Chicago. This framework identifies how school performance on five factors or “essentials” can lead to important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. Those 5Essentials are:


  • Effective Leaders
  • Collaborative Teachers
  • Involved Families
  • Supportive Environment
  • Ambitious Instruction
The parent survey takes approximately 10 minutes. Parents may skip any questions they do not wish to answer; however, they must click "Submit Survey" once they have reached the end in order for responses to be counted towards their school's response rate and included in the parent report.

To complete the parent survey: 
  • Visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/ and select Parent Survey
  • Select the necessary language to complete the survey
  • Enter requested demographic information
  • Advance to survey questions
  • Answer all applicable questions
  • Click Submit Survey

Keeping up-to-date on the latest information from around the School District is easy. There are several ways to stay informed:


Board of Education Meetings: Attend monthly meetings of the Board of Education. Meetings usually fall on the 3rd Wednesday of each month (with a few exceptions). The meeting dates and locations are posted atwww.blueridge18.org. Meeting agendas are published at least 48 hours prior to each meeting.

Facebook: “Like” our Facebook page at “Blue Ridge CUSD 18”

Public Email List: Sign up for our public email list. Go to www.blueridge18.org and click on the link in the upper right-hand corner and enter your email address.

SchoolReach Calls/Emails: Parents of current students - make sure your contact information, including telephone and email addresses are accurate in Skyward. We upload this information each night so it is always current for SchoolReach calls. If you need to make corrections, contact your child’s school. 

SchoolReach Text Message List: For select information we send out text messages (snow days, monthly superintendent’s message). If you would like to be included on this list you have to “Opt in” by notifying your child’s school.

Media: Local newspapers and radio stations provide coverage of school-related events and information.

School Newsletters: Sign up for the email newsletters from BRIJHS and BRHS (contact the school secretary). Schneider School sends their newsletter home to all PreK through 3rd grade students on the back of the lunch menu each month. Announcements are also posted on each school’s webpage at www.blueridge18.org

PIE/Boosters:  Become active in Partner’s in Education (PIE) for grades PreK-6, Jr. High Boosters for grades 7-8, BRHS Boosters for grades 9-12, and BRHS Parent Advisory Committee. Groups usually meet each month. Volunteers are always welcome and needed.
