CoolBRHS STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS  Cool 

 

 Wednesday,  September 17th , 2014

 

Students wanting passes for college reps need to plan ahead and get those passes in person at least a class period before the college rep arrives.  College rep visits will be announced two days ahead of the visit, and students wanting to plan ahead more than that can look at the board outside of Mrs. Whitehouse's office.  College Reps will be here this week. TODAY, McKendree University - 6th hour and Thursday U of I Springfield - 7th hour.  Juniors and Seniors should see Mrs. Whitehouse at least an hour before the meeting for a pass.

Miss Thacker’s 4th hour study hall should report to the Library TODAY, instead of the regular classroom.

Blue Ridge FFA is selling chapter t-shirts! Support FFA by purchasing a shirt for $10. Orders forms are in Ms. Blackford's classroom. Orders and money are due by Friday, September 19.

Attention all girls interested in playing basketball:  There will be a meeting for all girls interested in playing basketball in Mr. Brown's room TODAY during lunch.  Please bring your lunch to the meeting.

Gondola’s will be sold during lunch on Thursday in the Commons!  $3 for a sandwich, $5 for full meal deal!  Help support the Golf Team!

Key club will have a meeting Thursday in the Art room during lunch.

Come out and support the volleyball team on PACK THE PLACE this Thursday, September 18th, when we host El Paso- Gridley.  Freshman game begins at 5:00, JV at 6:00 and Varsity at approximately 7:00.

The Athletic Boosters are hosting 'Cram the Course' for the Boys and Girls Golf Teams this Thursday.  Come out and cheer on the Knights as they take on a very tough opponent, El Paso Gridley. They will be giving away gift cards for those who signed up. Go Knights!!

The Boys golf team finished 4th in a field of 15 teams yesterday at the Heyworth invitational.  Mason Potts took 8th place medalist with an 81.

 

The Girls golf team won their second match of the season by beating Olympia at home 256-257.  Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Makayla Castle.

Congratulations to the Varsity and JV volleyball team on their wins at GCMS last night.  The JV won in two sets improving their overall record to 7-3.  The varsity won 25-11, 25-16 improving their record to 13-2 and 3-1 in the HOIC.  Leading the knights was Bri Davis with 5 aces and 10 service pts followed by Jessica Gilbert with 8 assists; Emily Zelhart with 6 kills; Gabby Pearl with 4 blocks and Megan Tsevelekos with 8 digs.

The soccer team traveled to Bloomington to take on Central Catholic and       it ended in a 3-3 tie.  Scoring for the Knight's was Dylan Grammer with one and Riley Malone with 2.  Assisting in one goal of Riley's was Dylan Grammer.  Blayne Zeigler had 5 saves.  The JV had a game also and tied 2-2.  Scoring was Justin Jamison assisted by Johannes Giaever and Jared Haynes on a penalty kick.  Dylan Houser had 2 saves.  Great job Knights!

 

Today the Boys Junior Varsity Golf Team competes in the Blue Ridge Invitational beginning at 4:00.

This week’s after school detentions are with Miss Thacker and Lunch hour detentions on Tuesday and Thursday are with Miss Lawson.

PARENTS:  FRESHMAN will be meeting with JOSTENS for class ring orders on Tuesday, October 21st at 9am.  Orders for class rings will be due on Friday, October 24th at lunchtime and from 3pm - 6pm in the Commons.
 
PARENTS:  SENIOR gradutation announcement, cap/gowns, etc. will have a   meeting with JOSTENS on Thursday, October 23rd at 9am in a class meeting.  Orders will be taken during lunch on Thursday October 30th during lunch that day.

Board of Education Meetings: Attend monthly meetings of the Board of Education. Meetings usually fall on the 3rd Wednesday of each month (with a few exceptions). The meeting dates and locations are posted atwww.blueridge18.org. Meeting agendas are published at least 48 hours prior to each meeting.

Public Email List: Sign up for our public email list. Go to www.blueridge18.org and click on the link in the upper right-hand corner and enter your email address.

SchoolReach Calls/Emails: Parents of current students - make sure your contact information, including telephone and email addresses are accurate in Skyward. We upload this information each night so it is always current for SchoolReach calls. If you need to make corrections, contact your child’s school. 

SchoolReach Text Message List: For select information we send out text messages (snow days, monthly superintendent’s message). If you would like to be included on this list you have to “Opt in” by notifying your child’s school.

Media: Local newspapers and radio stations provide coverage of school-related events and information.

School Newsletters: Sign up for the email newsletters from BRIJHS and BRHS (contact the school secretary). Schneider School sends their newsletter home to all PreK through 3rd grade students on the back of the lunch menu each month. Announcements are also posted on each school’s webpage at www.blueridge18.org

PIE/Boosters:  Become active in Partner’s in Education (PIE) for grades PreK-6, Jr. High Boosters for grades 7-8, BRHS Boosters for grades 9-12, and BRHS Parent Advisory Committee. Groups usually meet each month. Volunteers are always welcome and needed.
