HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

for Friday, May 10th                   

Attention all Soccer players – your soccer uniforms are due to Mrs. Flannell TODAY!

All library books are due back TODAY or you will be charged for the book!

There will be a soccer meeting for all interested TODAY at 12:16 in the new gym.

 

For those interested in joining the NEW Shooting Club at school, there will be a meeting TODAY with Mrs. Danner-Duncan and Coach Miles in the library at 12:30 pm during lunch.

Summer Volleyball camp forms are available from Coach Miles.  Please return TODAY!

 

There is a football meeting on Saturday, May 11th at 5pm in the HS weight room.  We will discuss summer practice dates and expectations for the upcoming season.  Parents are welcome to attend.

 

Summer fieldwork applications are with Mrs. Whitehouse and the main office.  Students who are 14 years old and older by July 1st can apply.  This is an opportunity through Advance Services Inc. and Syngenta in Clinton.  Student workers will be pollinating fields just east of Wapella.  The season starts around July 1st and lasts for about 4-6 weeks.  Wages start at $11 per hour.  There is an open house for more information on May 15th from 9 am - 6pm.  See Mrs. Whitehouse if you have questions.3

Thespian Troupe awards night are Monday, 5/13 at 7pm in the old gym.

The Spring Band Pops concert will be held on Tuesday, 5/14 at 7:30pm in the old gym.

Volleyball open gym will be held Wednesday, 5/15 from 3:30-5pm in the new gym.

Cheer tryout open gym and instruction will be held May 20th thru 22nd from 3:30-5 in the New Gym.  Cheer tryouts will be on May 23rd, starting at 3:30 and will be held in the new gym.  Sign up in the Unit Office!!

The last day to order this year’s yearbook is May 31st!  See Ms. Thacker to order!

 

Seniors -

·         see the commons bulletin board for your owed fees and fines.  Please pay by CASH in the office before 5/17, graduation practice day!

·         Senior Chrome Book check in will be on 5/14, 5/15 and 5/15 from 7:45 to 8:30 in the office.

·         Your chrome book must be charged and returned with the case in person by you.

·         Friday morning before graduation practice is the last day for any saved work to not be deleted from your chrome book!  If you wish to save it, back it up to your thumb drive otherwise it’ll be gone, forever!

·         Senior student emails will be active until 6/1… then your school email accounts will be deactivated!

·         For any additional questions, please see the office!

 

Congratulations to Katie Cole, Anthony Thompson, Abby Bolen, and Henry Mitchell for making the Illinois State FFA Band. They will be performing as part of the band this summer at the Illinois State FFA Convention in Springfield in June! 

 

The Lady Knights Softball team won last night 16-15 against Okaw Valley.  Lexi Young and Georgia Manuel had 4 hits each and Avery Place hit her 3rd HR of the year. Ashlyn Voyles started the rally in the bottom of the 8th with a double and in her final home at bat Harley Buchanan hit a walk off single to win it for the Knights! Way to battle ladies!

 

Jenna Mozingo headlined the girls track team last night placing 1st in the 100HH and 300IH last night at the 16 team IHSA Gibson City Girls Track Sectional punching her ticket to Charleston where she will compete next Thurs. in prelims at the class A state track meet.  Polly Reynolds placed 4th in the TJ with a PR jump of 32' 4.5".  Macey Hamm placed 5th in the 3200 and Polly Reynolds tied for 6th in the HJ.  Other notables include the 4x800 of Jamie Wanserksi, Macey Hamm, Jessie Wanserksi and Katie Bowns getting a PR time of 12:12 and just missing placing.  Josephine Aldrich PR'd in the 800 as well.  Overall, the Lady Knights placed 7th overall out of 16 teams competing.   Some members of the Lady Knights track and field team will compete at the News Gazette Honor Roll Meet at Urbana on Monday.  Bus will leave at 3:30 pm.  Way to go Lady Knights track and field! 

Today the Varsity Baseball and Softball teams play at Arcola High School beginning at 4:30.  Teachers please dismiss the teams at 2:15 today.  Go Knights!
