HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

for Tuesday, September 17th

 

The new Blue Ridge Pride club will be meeting TODAY at lunch in room 201.  This club is for all students who identify as LGBTQ+ and their allies. EVERYONE is welcome to attend! Our mission is kindness to all. Bring your lunch and hang out. See Mrs. Whitehouse if you have questions.

 

There will be a meeting for all CLASS OFFICERS (Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors) TODAY during lunch in Ms. Loop’s room.  Class competitions and rules for Homecoming games will be discussed, so all officers should attend!!

 

There are two college admissions visits this week.  Wednesday, Eureka College will be here during 2nd hour.  Friday, Illinois College will be here during 3rd hour.  Juniors and Seniors can get a pass from Mrs. Coy or Mrs. Whitehouse before the visit.  


Thursday is the first FFA meeting of the year at 7 pm in the Ag Room! It's a sports-themed meeting so bring a themed snack and feel free to dress up for the meeting!

 

The Junior class is selling Window Decals of your favorite sports or organizations.  Please pick up order form in the office!  The deadline for orders is Sept. 23rd.

 

Homecoming Dance guest forms are in the office.  If you are bringing a guest to the dance, they must be under age 21.  The dance is Saturday, Oct. 5th in the old gym.

 

An “All You Can Eat” Fish Fry will be held after the Homecoming Parade on Friday, Oct. 4th at the American Legion from 3:30 – 6:30pm.  Tickets are $9 for Adults and $5 for Students!  See any band member or the office to purchase tickets.

Homecoming is very close and the Garden House is donating $1 to the BRHS Boosters for every corsage ordered for your special guy or gal for homecoming.  Call 928-5454 to place your order!

Students interested in learning more about college and career options are highly encouraged to make an appointment to see Mrs. Coy, our new school counselor. It is never too early to start planning. Seniors- it is important to start acting on your college and career plans. Every college has a different deadline, so be sure to check with your college choices and see when is the right time to apply. You should aim to apply by Nov 1st for an early college decision. Also, mark your calendars as FASFA will go live October 1st, which is when students should plan to apply. If you need any assistance or have any questions, Mrs. Coy is available in the library on Wednesdays and Fridays. She also has FREE college swag items, so stop by her office to get yours! 

The Farmer City Haunted Forest is looking for volunteers for their 2-weekend event this year:  October 18th and 19th and October 25th and 26th.  There are many ways to be involved and earn community service hours and a great group project to help with in the community!  See Mrs. Whitehouse or email fchauntedforest@gmail.com for more information.

The Varsity and JV Volleyball teams lost hard fought matches in 3 sets at Deland-Weldon last night dropping the Varsity record to 14-2.  Leading the Knights was Gracie Shaffer with 23 assists and 16 digs; Jenna Mozingo with 34 digs; and Nadia Beadle with 10 kills and 21 digs.  The Knights are back in action tonight vs. Argenta-Oreana with the frosh match starting at 5pm.  Go Knights.

Today the Soccer team plays at Normal Calvary Baptist beginning at 4:30 and the Volleyball

Team plays Argenta-Oreana at HOME with the Freshman beginning at 5:00, followed by the

Junior Varsity and then the Varsity. Go Knights!

After school detentions this week are with Ms. Loop.  Lunch detentions are in the office TODAY.

 Today’s lunch menu is: Soft Taco or Cheesy Garlic Bread

 Chef Salads are available daily also.  Please let the office know in the mornings if you’d like one.
