BRHS DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

for Friday, January 24th

 

Students:  ALL HALLWAYS off limits during lunchtime!  You must only be in the Commons or old gym during lunch.

If you are interested in boys track, there is still time to get involved in pre-season weight training.  Please see Mr. Kramer for more information.

Be sure and check out Snap chat all day TODAY!  BRHS is taking over the News-Gazette’s Snap chat account and Kalyn Warner, our school reporter, will be getting pictures of classrooms and what is going on at the school and letting everyone know what we do here at BRHS during the school day!

Attention Tech Prep students, this is a reminder that we have seminar TODAY.  You are to go to room 102 and please remind your business partners that you will not be there.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Dowling.

Do not forget to renew or return your library books.  Overdue books will result in fines.

The CEO class will be hosting a 5k/1 mile run this Saturday in Forsyth at 9am. If anyone wants any further details please speak with Seniors Brenden Flannell or Gabe Jenkins. 

The Student Council is sponsoring a Venus & Mars: Ladies Choice dance on Saturday, February 15th from 7:00-10:00 pm in the Old Gym.  Tickets will be sold during lunch, February 10-13, in the Commons, or may be purchased at the door.  Ticket prices will be $4.00 if the ticket is purchased in advance, or $5.00 if purchased at the dance.  In addition to the dance, the Student Council is sponsoring a Ms. Venus and Mr. Mars contest.  Votes will take place the week before the dance during lunch.  Votes cost 5 cents each. Winners of the contest will be crowned at the dance.  Students who wish to participate in the contest should see Ms. Loop.

 

Student Council is selling carnations for Valentine’s Day.  Carnation sales will take place in the Commons next week.  Carnations will be delivered Thursday, February 13th during 8th hour. Carnations cost $2 each or 3 for $5.

 

The Student Council meeting will be next Tuesday, January 28th.

During the month of February, Key Club will sponsor a Stay Warm Drive, and donate hats, gloves, scarves, or  warm socks.  The collection site will be at a table in the library all month.  Also a Pet Contest will be held from Feb. 17-21, students should bring in pictures of pets, voting takes place during lunch and is free!

 

In LPC scholastic bowl actions last night in Arthur the varsity scholastic bowl team won two thrilling meets over the host ALAH 260-250 and Arcola 260-230 to improve their overall record to 24-7 (6-1 LPC).  The JV scholastic bowl team won two matches as well over ALAH 310-110 and Arcola 210-100.  Leading the varsity in toss-ups with a balanced scoring attack was Nadia Beadle with 6 followed by Mitchell Houser with 5, Sami Boogren and Abby Johnson with 3 and Josephine Aldrich with 1.  Leading the JV scoring attack was Aiden Soliday with 13 toss-ups.  Way to go Knights!

The Girls Basketball team won their game last night against Okaw Valley in the LPC tourney 42 to 39.  Meah Carter scored 15 points in the win.  Congratulations girls!  They will play again on Saturday at 4pm at Shiloh.  Good Luck Lady Knights!

Today the Boys Basketball team begins competing in the Lincoln Prairie Conference tournament as they play Tri-County at Shiloh beginning at 6:00pm. Go Knights!
