Seniors, please submit your senior slideshow pictures for graduation.

Ms. Thacker’s yearbook class needs 2 baby pictures, 2 senior pictures and 2 other pictures growing up before March 1st.  You can bring them in to be scanned or email them to Ms. Thacker.

 

Thank you to everyone who participated in FFA Week last week! We had a lot of fun and hoped you did too!  The last 2 answers were there are over 41,000 FFA Members in Illinois and Drake Hardesty was the winner on that answer. Riley Kessler is the State FFA Secretary who visited us on Tuesday and Lexi Winstead was the first to email. The overall winner in the drawing was Lexi Winstead! Congratulations! You can get your gift card from Ms. Meisner.

 

Attention all stem club teen teachers:  There is a mandatory meeting in the chem lab TODAY at lunch for a meeting!

 

TODAY the Band will again be selling their leftover product from basketball season in the commons during lunch.  They have water, pop, Gatorade and candy. 

 

There will be a THRIVE meeting THURSDAY in Mrs. Ramirez’s art room.  Lunch will be provided.  Why just get through your day when you can THRIVE!

Senior Ty Meeker will be signing his college commitment to Florida Southern College tonight to their Water Ski program at 5pm in the commons.  Congratulations Ty!  Also, the Winter Sports Awards night is tonight at 6pm in the new gym.  If you played a winter sport, please attend tonight.

 

The art club meets this Thursday and next Wednesday after school in the art room for installation art for Fine Arts Expo.  The art club will also meet, Wednesday, March 6th after school in the art room.  And a reminder for all art students: Bring in your artwork for the Fine Arts Expo on/ or before March 5th.

 

Congratulations to AJ Johnson and Indra Nolan who has been selected as two of eleven scholastic bowlers to be named to the 33 school all-sectional team.  Way to go Knights! 

Last night FFA Members traveled to Richland College for the Section 16 Vet Science event. The team was comprised of Kaydance Wooton, Cheyanne Smith, Carmen Ellis, Shawn Christie, and Ava Franzen. They placed 5th overall at the event. Way to go Blue Ridge FFA!

 

February Athletes of the Month are:

Girls Basketball -  Senior Chelsea Lyle

Chelsea excels academically and has risen above injury and illness of the past to work towards completion of a full season.  Despite difficult circumstances along the way, she has still helped the team and been a good example of perseverance and determination along with academic excellence.

 

Boys Basketball – Senior Wyatt Pearl

During the month of February Wyatt averaged 10.2 pts and 8.8 rebounds (which led the team) and 1 block per game.  Wyatt's production helped the Knights take down conference opponents Cerro Gordo, Heritage, and Tri-County.  Congrats on a great season Wyatt!

 

Cheer -  Freshman Cheyanne Smith  

Cheyanne shows up to practice on time, ready to listen and learn new things. Always comes to practice with a smile on her face and willing to help others. 

 

Scholastic Bowl - Sophomore Indra Nolan

Indra ranks 2nd in Varsity toss-ups at 163.  Indra has been named to the All-Sectional team for the 2nd year in a row.  Indra's strengths include mythology and Russian literature and some histories.
