If you are interested in boys track, there is still time to get involved in pre-season weight training.  Please see Mr. Kramer for more information.

The Student Council is sponsoring a Venus & Mars: Ladies Choice dance on Saturday, February 15th from 7:00-10:00 pm in the Old Gym.  Tickets will be sold during lunch, February 10-13, in the Commons, or may be purchased at the door.  Ticket prices will be $4 if the ticket is purchased in advance, or $5 if purchased at the door.  In addition to the dance, the Student Council is sponsoring a Ms. Venus and Mr. Mars contest.  Votes will take place the week before the dance during lunch.  Votes cost 5 cents each. Winners of the contest will be crowned at the dance.  Students who wish to participate in the contest should see Ms. Loop.

 

Student Council is selling carnations for Valentine’s Day.  Carnation sales will take place in the Commons this  week.  Carnations will be delivered Thursday, February 13th during 8th hour. Carnations cost $2 each or 3 for $5.

The Farmer City Chamber of Commerce is looking for two students to be a part of their team.  If you would be interested in learning more about local businesses and offering insight to local leaders, please let Mrs. Whitehouse know.

 

Adulting is hard. That's why the Keller Williams Kids Can program is offering Quantum Leap -- This FREE half-day workshop is a transformational experience that helps young adults think bigger, and provides you with tools to succeed in life and business.  Join Blue Ridge graduate, Ashley Miller, as you talk about goals, habits, money and adulting.  Event flyers can be picked up in the office, where you can find more information and how to register. 

 

All 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students will be having 2020-2021 Course Selection presentations with Mrs. Whitehouse in English class this week.  Be thinking about the classes to take next year and follow the directions from class to get those requests made.  

Key Club is sponsoring a Keep Warm Drive.  Bring your donations of new hats, gloves, scarves, or socks to the library now and the month of February. 

 

Key Club is having a Pet Contest!  Bring in a picture of your pet to win $10 to the Snack Shack!  Help us bring awareness to animals in need!  This contest will be from Feb. 18th – Feb. 20th.  Voting is free and will take place during lunch.

 

Last night at the Varsity and Junior Varsity home quad the Varsity Scholastic Bowl team went 2-1 on the evening losing to Prairie Central but rebounded to defeat Tri-Point and Deland-Weldon to improve their overall record to 26-8. The JV A team went 2-1 defeating Prairie Central and the JV B team while losing to Cornerstone while the JV B team went 1-2 defeating Prairie Central.  Leading the varsity in toss-ups with a balanced scoring attack was Josephine Aldrich with 8 followed by Nadia Beadle and Sami Boogren with 7 each, Mitchell Houser with 5, Hutch Partlow with 4 and Abby Johnson with 3.  Leading the JV team in scoring was Aiden Soliday and Luke Sheltra with 6 each and Caleb Hirschman led the JV B team with 8 tossups.  Tomorrow the Knights are back in LPC play at Villa Grove with the bus leaving at 3:30 pm.  Go Knights!

 

After school detentions this week is with Ms. Thacker.  Lunch detentions are Thursday with Ms. Miller.
