Here are your daily announcements:
It is time to start the Knight Buddies program for the 25-26 school year! The Knight Buddies program is a one-on-one mentoring program between BRHS and Schneider Elementary students. High School students volunteer during their study hall times. For more information, and to apply to be a Buddy, see the post in the Counseling Google Classroom. The application is due on Thursday, Sept 25th.
There will be a Student Council meeting today at lunch in the library!
We will start voting for class attendants and Senior King/Queen today in Google Classroom! You have until Wednesday, 10/1 to vote. Winners will be announced on Thursday, 10/2.
The Class of 26 mums that were ordered will be delivered this Friday, September 26th!
If anyone is interested in joining the highly competitive Blue Ridge scholastic bowl team, we will have a meeting Monday, October 29th during lunch in the senior hallway, right outside of Mr. Scurlock’s room at 12:30 pm.
The next FFA Meeting is September 24th at 6:30 pm. We are having a fun Chapter LTS night. Come and spend time growing as a leader, learning about the different committees, and have fun! We will be having a taco bar that night! Sign up in the ag room!
Last night 2 FFA members competed at the Section 16 Job Interview event. In order to be invited to the in person event a student has to place top 10 in the Cover Letter and Resume Portion. Raeanna Miller and Ava Paullin both competed earning a top 10 recognition. At the event they had to complete an application, a phone interview, a face to face interview, and a follow-up letter. Raeanna Miller placed 8th overall in the event and Ava Paullin placed 2nd overall. Ava will be advancing to the District even in October. Congratulations!
On Saturday, the boys golf team traveled to Danville to participate in an 18 hole invitational hosted by Westville. Leading our team was Preston Jiles with a score of 91, following closely with a PR of 98 was Drake Hardesty. Henry Freden and Brenden Farris both helped out with scores 111 and 115. Way to go, boys! The girls Golf team traveled to Villa Grove on Saturday. Placing second overall was Lexi Winstead with a PR of 48. Presley Hardesty placed 4th with a score of 50 and Mercedes Manuel placed 6th with a score of 56. Way to go, Lady Knights!
The soccer team played on Monday at Danville Schlarman.. The final score was Blue Ridge 4 Schlarman 2. Scoring for the Knights was Devin Wrestler had a hat trick with an assist from Jaxon Beckman on his first goal and an assist from Karson Carter on his second. His third goal was unassisted.
Logan Coffey also scored with an assist from Devin Wrestler. The Knights are back in action Thursday at Watseka.
The lunch menu for today is Corn Dog with Sweet Potato Fries.
