HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

For Monday, September 9th

 

Knight Buddies program is back!!  This program matches high school students with an elementary student.  If you are interested in being a Knight Buddy, please sign up in the library.  Sign-ups are due by September 13th.  Mrs. Coy will advise you the week of September 20th.

 

If you did not get a chrome book case at the beginning of the year, we now have them available!  Please come down to Mr. Kramer’s office to get one for your chrome book!

 

"The Snack Shack is now fully open with snacks, drinks, baked goods, and even cappuccino. Bring your money and stop by room 212 before or after school or during passing periods to get a delicious snack."

 

Students in the Ag SAE class have a meeting during lunch on Tuesday, September 10th. 

 

Thursday, September 19th is the first FFA meeting of the year at 7 pm in the Ag Room! It's a sports-themed meeting so bring a themed snack and feel free to dress up for the meeting!

The Farmer City Haunted Forest is looking for volunteers for their 2-weekend event this year:  October 18th and 19th and October 25th and 26th.  There are lots of ways to be involved and earn community service hours and a great group project to help with in the community!  See Mrs. Whitehouse or email fchauntedforest@gmail.com for more information.

 

Attention College-Bound Juniors and Seniors:  Many universities have open houses and visit days on Saturdays and days that we do not have school.  Plan ahead and use your days off wisely!  There are many opportunities on Oct 11th and Oct 14th!  

Congrats to the Varsity Volleyball team for going 5-0 on Saturday winning the championship match over a very tough Heritage team in 3 sets improving their overall record to 7-0.  The Knights defeated Uni-High, Donovan, Lowpoint-Washburn and Villa Grove in pool play. The Knights were led by Gracie Shaffer's 75 assists, 45 digs and 7 aces followed by Nadia Beadle's 34 kills and 38 digs; Jenna Mozingo's 36 digs.  Congrats to Gracie Shaffer and Nadia Beadle for being selected to the 10 player all tourney team.  A special thanks to all the parents, JV players and staff who helped run a great tournament.  The Lady Knights are back in action tonight vs. Fisher with the freshman match beginning at 5pm. Volleyball team plays Fisher at HOME with the freshman beginning at 5:00 followed by the Junior Varsity and then the Varsity.  Go Knights!

On Friday, your Blue Ridge Knights football team improved to 2-0 on the season with a win over OPH by the score of 28-14.  Leading the Knights on offense was QB Brady Masengale by throwing for 223 yds and 3 touchdowns.  Zach Stephens, who caught 6 passes for 169 yds and 2 touchdowns, and Wayne Bowns who carried the ball 20 times for 109 yards and 1 touchdown.  Dominic Gentry also added another touchdown and 65 yards rushing Kolby Kramer, Brady Masengale and Colton Pearl led the defense with double digit tackles each.   Wayne Bowns, Bobby Schumacher and Kolby Kramer each had sack.  Join us next Friday as the Knights travel to take on Tri-County.  Way to go Knights!

Today the Girls Golf team competes in the Blue Ridge Triangular meet beginning at

4:00 and the Soccer Team plays Iroquois West at HOME beginning at 4:30.

Also tonight the JV Football team has a game at Sangamon Valley TONITE at 6pm.  Bus time is 3:45.  Go Knights!
