HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

for Friday, September 27th

 

The Freshman Class will have a meeting in Mr. Minteer’s room at lunch TODAY!

 

If you have not picked up your new student ID and pictures, they are in the office for you!

 

Homecoming Dance guest forms are in the office for October 5th.  If you are bringing a guest to the dance, they must be under age 21 and have a copy of their ID or Drivers License attached to the form.  The dance is Saturday, Oct. 5th in the old gym and forms are due back in the office on Wednesday, October 2nd.

 

Paint and decorate a pumpkin and save lives!   Bring your pumpkin to school on Wednesday morning in the Commons between 8am and 8:30 am!  Then, everyone will have the chance to vote for the best pumpkin during lunch hour.   The two pumpkins that raise the most money will earn a gift card for their creator.  Key Club is sponsoring this to raise money for The Eliminate Project.

It's fall which means all things pumpkin! Blue Ridge FFA has pumpkins for sale in the Ag Room! We have a few smaller ones for $3 and many large ones for $5. Pumpkins will be sold until October 27th so get them while they are here! 

Sign-ups for homecoming week games, led by the cheerleaders, will be held TODAY before school and also at lunch in the Commons.  Partner games are Hungry Hippo, Cheeseball Toss, Leg War and Rock, Paper, Scissor, Split.  Non-partner games are Tissue Box Wiggle and Corn on the Cob Chow.  See you at sign ups!!

 

The Homecoming “All You Can Taco Bar”  will  be held after the Homecoming Parade on Friday, Oct. 4th at the American Legion from 3:30 – 6:30pm.  Tickets are $9 for Adults and $5 for Students!  See any band member to purchase tickets.

 

The Garden House is graciously donating $1 to the BRHS Boosters for every Homecoming corsage ordered for your Homecoming date next weekend!  Call 928-5454 to place your order!

Students interested in learning more about college and career options are encouraged to make an appointment with Mrs. Coy. It’s important for all Seniors to start acting on your college and career plans. Every college has a different deadline, so be sure to check with your college choices and see when is the right time to apply. You should aim to apply by Nov 1st for an early college decision. Also, mark your calendars as FASFA will go live October 1st, which is when students should plan to apply. Mrs. Coy is available to help you in the library on Wednesdays and Fridays for any assistance you may need. She also has FREE college swag items, so stop by her office to get yours! 

Congrats to the Varsity and JV Volleyball teams on defeating Villa Grove last night.  The Varsity won by a score of   25-17, 25-22 to improve to 21-4 (6-0) in the LPC.  Blue Ridge won the JV contest 25-19, 25-15 and improves their overall record to 11-4.  Leading the Varsity lady knights was Gracie Shaffer with 14 assists, Jenna Mozingo with 14 digs, Nadia Beadle with 5 kills, Payton Burns with 2 aces and Jamie Wanserski with 2 blocks.  Go Knights!

Blue Ridge Soccer defeated Watseka last night 9 to 1. 1st half scoring was 4 goals by Brenden Flannell with one assist by Victor Reynolds, Anthony Thompson assisted by Jacy Dean and 1 goal.  2nd half scoring was Jacy Dean unassisted, Victor Reynolds assisted by Adrian Jones, Brendan Flannell unassisted and Hank Mitchell unassisted.  Jayden Dalton had 2 saves.

The girls lost both ends of a 3-way match yesterday against St. Thomas More and Watseka in Champaign.  However, the girls scored well with Macy Baird shooting a career best 46 followed by a solid 49 from Ashlyn Voyles.  The girls and boys will be competing in the LPC tournament tomorrow at Eagle Creek Golf Course.

Tonight the Football team plays at A-L-A-H in Arthur at 7pm.  Good Luck Knights!

Homecoming Week is next week!

 Float building begins tomorrow and Sunday is Homecoming Kick-Off beginning at 5:00 in the Old Gym. 

Monday through Thursday we will use the 2:20 Bell Schedule with an Activity daily from 2:20 until 3:10.

 We will also have Dress-Up Days everyday next week.  Please remember your costumes must still be within dress code guidelines.

 Monday is Beach Day!

  • After 2:20 Monday, we’ll have a class Hall Decorating Contest

Tuesday is Decades Day

  • After 2:20 we will have Class Relays Outside

Wednesday is Class Colors Day

  • After 2:20 we will have Relays inside in the New Gym

Thursday is Western Day

  • After 2:20 there will be a Line Dance Competition in the Old Gym!

Friday will be Spirit Day with Blue and Silver for everyone!

 Today’s lunch menu is: Sausage Pizza and side salad
