BRHS DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

for Monday, February 3rd  

 

The Student Council is sponsoring a Venus & Mars Ladies Choice dance on Saturday, February 15th from 7:00-10:00 pm in the Old Gym.  Tickets will be sold during lunch next week in the Commons.  Ticket prices will be $4 in advance or $5 at the door.  In addition to the dance, a Venus & Mars contest will be held.  Voting will take place the week before the dance during lunch.  Votes cost 5 cents each. Winners of the contest will be crowned at the dance.  Students who wish to participate in the contest should see Ms. Loop.

 

Student Council is selling carnations for Valentine’s Day during lunch TODAY.  This is your last chance to order!  Carnations will be delivered Thursday, February 13th during 8th hour. Carnations cost $2 each or 3 for $5.

The Farmer City Chamber of Commerce is looking for two students to be a part of their team.  If you would be interested in learning more about local businesses and offering insight to local leaders, please let Mrs. Whitehouse know.

 

Key Club is sponsoring a Keep Warm Drive.  Bring your donations of new hats, gloves, scarves, or socks to the library now and the month of February. 

 

Freshman Orientation will be on February 12th during the day and parent meeting in the evening at 7pm in the Commons

 

Key Club is having a Pet Contest in February!  Bring in a picture of your pet to win $10 to the Snack Shack!  Help us bring awareness to animals in need!  This contest will be from Feb. 18th – Feb. 20th.  Voting is free and will take place during lunch.

 

Tonight the Girls Basketball team plays at Cerro Gordo beginning at 6:00. Good Luck Lady Knights!

 

We will have a Teacher’s Institute Day Next Friday, February 14th.

 

FFA Week will be the last week of February and we will begin the week with a 2:20 Schedule with an ALL School Assembly after 2:20 in the New Gym.

 

The Knight to Remember Talent Show and meal will be held on Friday, February 28th here at the school.

Congratulations to the JV Scholastic Bowl team for going 4-3 Saturday at the 12 team JV Scholastic Bowl tourney at Roanoke-Benson placing 4th overall.  Congrats, to Abby Johnson and Aiden Soliday for being the tourneys 4th and 7th top scorers of the tourney.  At the 14-team Winnebago Varsity Scholastic Bowl tourney, the Knights went a respective 4-4 on the day placing 8th overall.  In pool play, the Knights fell to Maine East, Winnebago and Elgin Academy B team but defeated Morrison, Mendota and Buffalo Grove B in pool play.  In the afternoon, the Varsity played their best matches of the day defeating Buffalo Grove A 305-210 and came up short to Galena 225-250 to round out the day.  Leading the Varsity in toss-ups was Nadia Beadle with 17 followed by Sami Boogren with 15, Josephine Aldrich with 12 and Hutch Partlow and Mitchell Houser with 11 each.  The Varsity is now 31-13 overall.

 

After school detentions this week is with Mrs. Ringel.  Lunch hour detentions this week are with Mrs. Davis on Tuesday and Mrs. Whitehouse on Thursday.
