BRHS DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

for Wednesday, February 19th   

Reminder for football players - Morning meetings are held at 8am DAILY through the end of FEBRUARY to bring players up to speed with changes in the program.  Meetings only last 10 minutes.  Be there so you are not left behind.

This week you have a chance to vote for who will kiss the goat next week at the FFA Assembly during lunch with the FFA Penny Wars! Pennies earn positive points while any other coin/dollar earns negative points. The teacher with the lowest score will kiss the goat on Monday! 

 

Freshman Orientation will be TONIGHT with a parent meeting starting at 6pm in the Commons. 

 

Book Club will meet in the library Thursday during lunch.

The International Club will have a meeting on Thursday during lunch in Ms. Loop’s room. 

Bass fishing meeting will be on Thursday at 12:30 in the new gym.

The next blood drive will be on Thursday, March 5.  Key Club sign up during lunch this week to donate.

 

Local Scholarship packets are available for BRHS seniors!  All local scholarships are due by April 1st.  Packets can be picked up in English classrooms, the Counseling office or the main office.  

 

Have you submitted a picture of your pet yet?  Key Club is having a Pet Contest that ends on Thursday!  Bring in a picture of your pet as soon as possible to Mrs. Davis’s room to win $10 to the Snack Shack!  Help us bring awareness to animals in need!  Voting is free and will take place during lunch.

 

Congratulations to Mr. Brian Sparks and Mr. Ken Seneca will be recognized this Friday by the

Farmer City Chamber of Commerce as Outstanding Teachers of the Year! 

Also Congratulations to Madi Houser and Kaitlyn Bradford who will also be recognized as Outstanding Students by the Chamber!

FFA Week is next week with the following dress-up days and activities:

Monday- USA theme dress up and popcorn provided at lunch. Be sure to sign up for games for the Assembly on Monday!

Tuesday- Dress like a teacher, and teachers dress like students! Teachers and FFA members will have lunch provided. Be sure to sign up with Meisner by 3pm on Friday. 

Wednesday- Beach theme dress up with snow cones for $1 during lunch

Thursday- Camo/Orange and we will have our College/Career Fair from 8am to 1pm

Friday- Blue and Gold dress up and our FFA Barnyard (petting zoo) will be taking place

We will begin the week with a 2:20 dismissal schedule and have an ALL School Assembly after 2:20 in the New Gym.

 

Blue Ridge Key Club and Kiwanis Club of Farmer City are holding a Chili Supper at the basketball game this Friday from 5:30-7 p.m. in the BRHS Commons Area. Chili with all the fixings, brownies, and ice tea for $5. Proceeds go to service projects in the community. Come on out and support a good cause!

The Knight to Remember Talent show and dinner is back on Friday, February 28th here at the school. Stay tunes for more details! You may purchase your tickets from any band member!

 

The cheerleaders did an outstanding job during their halftime performance last night for senior night.  Congrats to our 2 seniors, Madi Houser and Madelynne Rosenbery!  If you missed the performance, be sure to check it out Friday night during the JV halftime.  Also there will be no cheer practice tonight.

 

Congrats to the Varsity Scholastic Bowl team for going 2-0 last night in LPC play defeating Shiloh 380-10 and Heritage 360-70 to improve to 36-15 (9-2 LPC).  The JV lost a close match to Heritage and was led in toss-ups by Alexis Wike's 5 toss-ups.  Leading the Varsity in toss-ups was Nadia Beadle and Mitchell Houser with 8 each followed by Josephine Aldrich with 6, Abby Johnson with 4 and Aiden Soliday with 3.  Way to go Knights!

 

HS Spring sports meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, February 24th at 6pm.

 

After school detentions this week are with Mrs. Jones and Lunch detentions are with Mr. Sparks on Thursday.

 

 Lunch menu for today is:  Spaghetti with Garlic Stick or Pulled Chicken Sandwich
