            HIGH SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

                for Tuesday, February 19th  

 

Students, please remember the North door by the Unit Office is OFF LIMITS for entrance and exit except daily from 8:05 to 8:20 am.  The office secretaries will not let you into those doors except for the posted times. You will have to go around to the Ag door or thru the circle drive door.

There is no weightlifting TONIGHT after school!

Blue Ridge FFA is selling fresh, delicious, juicy Strawberries! See any FFA member if interested! 

 

Those interested in being a part of the color guard team (people who have flags with the marching band) clinics will be starting soon for current 8th grade through Juniors in high school! There is no obligation to audition by attending a clinic- it is for you to be able to learn. Clinics are February 28, March 6, and March 11 from 5:30-7pm all three days. Auditions for the team are March 19th from 5:30-7pm. Talk to any current guard member or Ms. Meisner for more information or questions.

Thanks to the Spanish Club for all their hard work on the Valentines Dance on Saturday night.  It was well attended and the Spanish Club thanks all the students who came, chaperones and parents who helped make it a success!

It’s pancake time again! The Class of 2022 is selling Applebee’s pancake breakfast tickets for $5 each. It is this Saturday from 8-10 a.m. at the Champaign location on North Prospect. 

 

Students who have read books on the Lincoln Award book list, are encouraged to stop by the library to vote for their favorite between Feb 19th and March 15th.  Earn a free meal and be recognized on Honors night in May.

  

Reminder: Students participating in the Read for a Lifetime Program should let Ms. Brokaw or Mrs. Raines know which 4 books they read no later than April 12th.  Participants will be eligible to participate in the end of the year lunch celebration and be recognized on honors night.

 

Happy National FFA Week!  The fun begins today with: 

 

  • Dress Up: FFA Attire/Official Dress
  • Event: Teacher Appreciation Day- Lunch served by FFA members

 

Wednesday, Feb. 20th with

  • Everyone -Dress Up Day: Theme is America (Red, White, Blue)
  • Event: Truck and Tractor Day
    • Non FFA Members pay $5 to participate
    • Forms are due this FRIDAY, FEB 15th!  Forms are in the Ag wing bulletin board

o    For Non-FFA members it is $5 that will go towards sending a member to FFA Leadership Camp. See an FFA Officer or Ms. Meisner. 

 

Thursday, Feb 21st with

  • Everyone Dress Up Day: Theme is Career Day (Future Career)
  • Event: College and Career Fair 8am-1pm in the Old Gym
    • Teachers can bring down Study Hall, Classes, students can also go in before school and during lunch

 

Ending on Friday, Feb 22nd with

  • Everyone Dress Up Day: Theme is Life on a Farm (Dress up like an animal or a farmer)
  • Event: FFA Barnyard (Petting Zoo)

 

 

The Winter Sports Banquet is next Wednesday, February 27th at 6pm.  The athletes’ meal is paid by the Boosters and the Adult meals are $6.00 each.  Tickets can be purchased from Booster members.

 

Congrats to the Varsity Scholastic Bowl team for getting 2nd place at the Masonic Sectional on Saturday with their only loss coming on the very last question of the match.  The Knights defeated Salt Fork 320-120 then Deland-Weldon 200-180 before losing to Fisher 240-250.  The Knights rebounded to defeat Georgetown Ridge-Farm 230-150 and Heritage 340-90 to improve their overall record to 44-11.  The Knights were led in toss-ups by Tyler Maxwell with 19 followed by Luke Nichols with 15, Nadia Beadle with 10, Josephine Aldrich with 5 and Zach Cahoe with 4.  There will be practice tonight in the library after school until 4:30. GO KNIGHTS!

 

The Boys Basketball team WON a thrilling game over Mt. Pulaski last night by a score of 33 to

30 in Regional Action. Nick Burrow and Lane Nichols both scored 8 points each.  They will now play Judah Christian on Wednesday at HOME beginning at 6:00.  Come on out and cheer them on to a Victory!

 

After school detentions this week is with Mrs. Jones.
