The BRHS FFA is hosting a Thanksgiving Food Drive Competition from October 26th through October 30th. Items collected will be donated to the Salt Creek Resource Center. In preparation for the holidays, the food bank is specifically requesting broth, turkey gravy, noodles, mini marshmallows, french fried onions, turkey or ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, and canned pumpkin, but would welcome any and all non-perishable donations.
Students who bring in 5 items will get a coupon for free admission into one BRHS athletic event. 1st Hour classes that collect the most food overall will receive a special prize.
During the Little Knights cheer clinic a couple of weeks ago, the items in this picture were left in the high school. If they are yours, please come to the high school office to claim them. Thank you!
Today, members of the BRHS FFA Officer team competed at the FFA National Convention, as one of the TOP 10 TEAMS IN THE NATION! Presenters included Tyler Holtz, Addie Browning, and Gideon Craft. Their presentation was live streamed during the school day so staff and students alike could support our BRHS students. Go Knights!
Last night, the senior BRHS volleyball players took the court for a final time at home. We thank them for their dedication to the team and the continued growth of the program. We also want to thank the great crowd that came out to support them as they beat Argenta - Oreana!

BRHS Athletics is looking for 3 Adults to help run the Football Sideline Chain Gang for this week's game against Metro East Lutheran. Workers would need to arrive at the field by 6:15 PM. The Farmer City Chamber of Commerce is hosting the annual "One and Only 5K" on Saturday, October 31st. There will be medals and t-shirts for finishers as well as recognition for the best costumes. Additionally, high school students that participate will be given extra credit in their PE classes! Proceeds from entrance fees go to support scholarships given to BRHS seniors each spring.
This is a great event for every level of runner, from novice to advanced, and no matter where you finish, fun is a guarantee!

Today, the BRHS School Counselor, Mrs. Hieronymus, coordinated with a representative from Eastern Illinois University to present to interested juniors and seniors information about EIU including areas of study, life on campus, and financial information to help guide student decisions for life after high school. Game 10/16 @ Illinois Valley Central High School (Chillicothe, Illinois) at 4:30 PM.
Fans can park in the parking lot north of the soccer stadium and the lot north of the school. The road south of the soccer field will only be open for the team bus to park. There will be representatives from IVC to direct traffic.
Fans should enter through the north gate. Gates will open 1 hour before the match. The south gate will have someone there, but all tickets at the south gate must be purchased in advance or with a credit card.
Tickets for the regional are $6 cash or fans can purchase them in advance on GoFan, but there is a $1 fee per ticket. We will accept cash at the gate as well as cards, but the card will also incur the GoFan fee.

It was launch day for the catapults made by Mr. Scurlock's Science of Energy class! Students have been working hard both in and out of school over the last 4 weeks to research, design and build their catapults in order to study potential and kinetic energies! This is a fan favorite project every year and a great way to study energy with real world data.
