At Schneider Elementary, students are learning how to ‘flip their light switch’—a strategy that helps them shift their focus from one part of the school day to the next. Whether it’s transitioning from recess to reading or from lunch to learning, the light switch reminder encourages students to pause, reset, and engage their ‘learning brains.’ We asked a few students to share what the light switch means to them—and their answers were thoughtful, creative, and a little bit hilarious! https://shorturl.at/KxM9s

Blue Ridge will join the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) in the twelfth statewide survey of school climate and learning conditions. The survey provides a unique opportunity for 4th-12th grade students, teachers and parents to have a voice in improving their schools. Please see the informational letter here: https://5il.co/38aq7. Students and teachers will take their survey between February 26 and March 28. The parent survey is open and will remain open through March 28. You may access the parent survey here: https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/. If you haven’t already, would you consider taking a few minutes to complete the parent survey? This will be our last reminder for you to make your voice heard to impact positive growth in our schools. #br_u_knighted

The BRHS Scholastic Bowl team was recognized at the Monticello Masonic Lodge on Monday night. This was the second year that the Monticello Chapter sponsored the team. It was a great fellowship of Mason's providing pizza and drinks.

Mrs. Earley’s second grade class has been working on a huge project the last month called “Hearts Around the World”! Their goal was to get a valentine from all 50 states. They received almost 100 valentines from many different states, and even different countries like Germany, Spain, Italy, and more!! The class learned about different communities through fun facts in each card and looked up images of where the cards were from. 2nd graders practiced letter writing by writing thank you cards to each person that mailed them one, and took a field trip to the post office to send them off. There, they learned about how mail works, toured the post office, met the Postmaster, and bought stamps to mail letters. Thank you to everyone who helped 2E with this project! 💌📬

The BRHS Softball team started their season off in Donovan tonight. They had a hard fought first game which took 10.5 innings!!!! Unfortunately they came up short 1-2 but the biggest news of all is Ellie Schlieper recorded her 400th strikeout during the game. This puts her in 3rd place overall per our records. Congrats to Ellie!

Our 2nd Grade Engineers put their creativity to the test! Using the engineering process, they designed and built their very own leprechaun traps, then proudly shared their work with the Schneider Community. Incredible problem-solving and innovation—way to go, future engineers! ☘️ Click the link to see some traps and student interviews - https://5il.co/3apm2
